Exotic Alloy Process Vessels are specified when standard stainless steel cannot resist the corrosive media. Hastelloy, Inconel, and Monel offer excellent resistance to hydrochloric acid, wet chlorine, reducing acids, and mixed acid environments.

Hastelloy C276: Outstanding resistance to HCl, H2SO4, FeCl3, mixed acids, oxidizing and reducing conditions
Hastelloy C22: Better resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion vs C276; preferred for mixed oxidizing/reducing environments
Inconel 625: Excellent for seawater, HNO3, and high-temperature service
Monel 400: Ideal for HF service, seawater, and reducing acids

Applications

HCl synthesis reactors, wet chlorine handling, HF alkylation, mixed acid service, seawater desalination, bleach production vessels, pharmaceutical HCl reaction vessels.
